
RESIDENCY AGREEMENT
THIS RESIDENCY AGREEMENT is entered into this Friday 22nd of August 2025 08:22:02 PM acting per the Registrar or any duly authorized officer, on the part hereinafter referred to as the University and You, The Student, admitted to the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) as a student or in statu pupillary (hereinafter referred to as the Hall Resident) on the other part.
In consideration of the Hall Resident’s admission to the University and the payment of the residential user fee herein stipulated, and the due observation of the conditions herein contained, the University admits him/her into its Hostel for the period of One(1) Semester.
The Hall Resident Agrees to the Following Conditions:
- To use the room allocated to me for residential purposes only.
- To observe any rules and regulations that may be put in place from time to time by the University.
- To accord the personnel whom the University may put in charge of the facility the greatest respect and comply with directives given.
- Not to make any alterations to the facility whether of a temporary or permanent nature.
- Not to engage in any act that will deface the facility such as fixing pictures or photographs on the walls of the facility whether in the rented room or elsewhere in the Hall.
- Not to use any appliances or equipment in the rooms allocate door any other part of the facility whether electrical, electronic or otherwise e.g. sound systems, television sets, videos, computers, refrigerators, microwaves, cookers, dishwashers and washing machines without the prior authorization in writing by the Hall Tutor.
- Not to park in and around the facility any vehicle except at the designated sports and with the prior approval of the university in writing and subject to the payment of the appropriate parking fee.
- Not to engage in any act which amounts to nuisance and inconvenience to other users of the facility, neighbouring facilities or the University including drumming, whistling and noise making.
- Not to allow any unauthorized persons(s) to live in the room assigned. Failure shall result in summary ejection from the Hall of residence without refund of rent paid.
- Not to sublet or trade the room to any person.
- Not to engage in narcotic drugs and other banned substances or harbor any person who engages in criminal activities.
- Not to keep any offensive weapon in the room or room or any part of the facility.
- Not to engage in gambling of any form within the facility.
- To vacate the rooms during the periods when the University is on recess unless expressly permitted at the absolute discretion of the University to remain therein and subject to the prior payment in full of any user fee or rent that may be imposed by the University.
- To vacate the room allocated any time when advised to withdraw from the University by the Registrar or any other duly authorized Officer of the University.
- To pay a refundable deposit of GH¢100.00 against the loss/replacement of the lock/key and/or damage to any item in the assigned room or within the facility.
- By signing this agreement I agree to be bound by its terms and that the failure on the part of the University to take action upon a breach of any of the terms shall not mean or imply a waiver of the right to take action.
The Hall Resident Further agree that:
- Rooms will be maintained clean at all times.
- The University reserves the right to inspect the rooms and the facility as a whole at all times whether in the presence of the Hall Resident or not, save that as far as practicable or expedient the University shall endeavor to give prior notice of such inspection to the Hall Resident.
- Rooms will be inspected before occupation, at the middle of the semester and before recess, occupants will be liable for cost of repair of the room that exceeds ordinary wear and tear.
- No collective decision taken by the Hall Residents shall supersede this agreement.
- The decision of the University shall be final and binding on a student allocated a room in the Hall from the time of signature of this agreement.
- The University shall ensure that the Hall and all its facilities are maintained in reasonable condition at all times and that complaints brought to its attention by the Hall residents are promptly attended to.
- . Breach of any of these regulations may result in the immediate revocation of all residential status.
- Failure to report breach of any of these regulations by roommates to the University shall be considered on act of collusion and may result in the immediate revocation of the residential status of all occupants of the room.
- Where the residential status of a student is revoked any rent that is due shall be fully paid and the resident shall forfeit any fees paid in advance.
- No visitor shall be allowed into the Hall from 10:00 pm. Porters are mandated to use their discretion to protect residents and University properties at all times and have the right to refuse entry of visitors to the Hall.
